Did you know that electronic readers have no covers.
We are living in a world were government authorities are looking to take control of the people. Keeping the people under control and controlling what people read. The prevention of learning is power. Knowledge is power.
This may sound familiar because this concept is not new. George Orwell in 1964, Ray Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451 and even Adolf Hitler knew this. Throughout history no good has ever come from burning books and re-writing the past.
Reading books now can in fact be a crime. Books on religion, banned, books on lgbt, banned, books about racial justice, banned. Even a book based on Christianity, written by a Christian theologian, was banned because it was portrayed to contain magic (C.S Lewis - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe) in a heavily populated Christian state of America. Some of these people do not even know what they are banning or why.
I was lucky when I was in school, books were free. Free to take home, read, learn from and help was provided when needed. I became a school librarian. I was told to cherish books and understand them. Not burn them.
It saddens me that people now are not allowed to learn. The social norm is to not read what you want and take in different art cultures or religions.
There is a way!
When in school, I had a safe space to learn. Unfortunately now, this is no longer the case in many countries. However, fortunately for us, electronic readers have no covers. Think about it for a moment. I could be reading, in public, The Bible, Harry Potter, or Pride and Prejudice and no one will know.
There is no shame, no judgment and no risk. A world of possibilities. A world I grew up with, where any story could be told. Meaningful, religious or moving. You can in fact, read any book you wish all because of the ereader.
If you don't have one, consider it. You don't need a new one. You don't even need an expensive one. A old, cheap ereader, preferably without WiFi so you have to transfer books from a online download over a cable is excellent. A ereader that doesn't connect to a cloud is, naturally, more private and secure.
Check out my Freedom of Information page in the Docs section to find places to get ebooks and free media. The internet is the biggest library the world has ever created. So go learn and explore.
